European side or Asian side?
The Asian side (Kadıköy, Moda, Üsküdar) is generally calmer, slightly cheaper and very livable day to day; the European side holds most offices, nightlife and the classic expat neighborhoods. Ferries and Marmaray make crossing painless off-peak — but a daily rush-hour bridge commute wears people down fast.
