Don't change money at AVMs — go to a kuyumcu

The currency booths inside Mecidiyeköy AVM, Cevahir, Kanyon all give 3-5% worse rates than the gold shops (kuyumcu) literally across the street. They'll ask for ID — that's normal and legal. Best rates around 11am.
